Arely L. Rodriguez Alcocer, Ph. D. completed her Ph.D. in Education Studies in the field of School and Applied Child Psychology at Western University. She has more than five years of experience conducting psychological and psychoeducational assessments across educational and clinical settings, working with children, adolescents, and young adults and collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals. Across these settings, she has worked with young people with diverse profiles involving learning difficulties, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, giftedness, anxiety, trauma, and mood disorders. Her approach focuses on translating assessment findings into practical, individualized recommendations that can be useful at home, at school, and in everyday life.

Her intervention experience has included the use of cognitive-behavioural and other evidence-based strategies to support adolescents experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, low mood, and other emotional concerns. Her goal is to provide an environment where adolescents feel heard and accepted, particularly during times when it may be difficult to make sense of what they are experiencing. She supports them in gaining greater insight into their experiences, developing effective ways to manage stress and challenges, and building confidence as they work toward their goals.

In addition to her clinical work, Arely L. Rodriguez Alcocer, Ph. D. is involved in neuroscience research at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute, where she contributes to research focused on rare neurodevelopmental disorders. Her experience across these fields has helped her to adopt an evidence-informed perspective and has broadened her understanding of the many factors that shape children and adolescents’ learning, emotional well-being, relationships, and everyday functioning.

On a Personal Note

Being neurodivergent has shaped my understanding of how powerful it can be when people are encouraged to embrace their differences and are supported in ways that reflect who they are.
This perspective is one of the reasons I was drawn to psychology and continues to influence the care and dedication I bring to my work with young people and families.
