Dr. Lafleur offers bilingual psychological services in French and English to adults and older adults/seniors struggling with various difficulties, including anxiety, mood disorders, sleep disorders, PTSD and C-PTSD, relationship difficulties, and adaptation to major life transitions. Dr. Lafleur is also very interested in the field of health psychology and has experience with people dealing with health problems, illnesses and physical symptoms (e.g., acute or chronic pain/illness, physical disabilities, depression and anxiety secondary to the onset of the illness).
Dr. Lafleur's integrative therapeutic approach uses attachment theory to inform her understanding of her patients. Her style is mainly Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; however, she has training and experience in other clinical methods, such as Emotional-Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, CBT-I (Primary Insomnia) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Dr. Lafleur values flexibility in her approach to adapting to each patient's specific needs and their presenting symptoms and difficulties, as well as fostering a collaborative approach and a safe and positive therapeutic relationship.
Dr. Lafleur was a clinician and consultant with the Clarence-Rockland Family Health Team. She has also worked in various clinical settings, such as the Rehabilitation Center at The Ottawa Hospital, the Ambulatory Geriatrics Unit at the Royal, the Ambulatory Social and Therapeutic Intervention Program at Montfort Hospital, at Barrhaven Psychological Services, at the Eastern Ottawa Psychological Services, and offered psychological treatment to patients at the University of Ottawa Center for Psychological Services and Research.
